Zusammenfassung: Imfolgenden Beitrag wird das Projekt „Familiennamenatlas der Deutschschweiz. Mit Ausblicken auf die romanischen Sprachgebiete“ (kurz FDS) vorgestellt, das seit dem 01.02.2022 an der Universität Bern am Institut für Germanistik läuft. Thematisiert werden die wesentlichen Eckpunkte: Datenbasis, Gliederung, Kartierung sowie Publikationsform. Das Hauptziel des FDS ist es, alle für den Deutschschweizer Namenbestand wesentlichen grammatischen sowie zentrale lexikalische Themen im Format eines digitalenAtlas zu dokumentieren. In Ausblicken werden auch die romanischen Sprachgebiete der Schweiz – i. e. italienische, französische und rätoromanische Familiennamen – linguistisch analysiert.

Abstract: The present paper introduces the largest project for the research of Swiss surnames „Family name atlas of German-speaking Switzerland.With perspectives on the Swiss Romance- language regions“ (short FDS), which started on February 1st, 2022 at the Institute of German at the University of Bern. We will address the main key points such as the database, the outline as well as the article structure, mapping techniques, and the form of publication as a digital, open-access atlas. The main focus of the FDS is to map surnames by phonetics and formation and according to naming motifs such as occupation or place of residence.While the focus will be on German surnames, we will also offer perspectives on the areal distribution of French-, Italian-, and Romansh surnames in Switzerland.
